Hamdia Ahmed is a model and a social justice activist. Born during the Somali war while her family was escaping, Hamdia is a true fighter. She spent the first seven years of her life in a refugee camp before relocating to the United States in 2005. Now, Hamdia is proud to be the first person in her family to graduate from college. She has received a number of awards for her activism work which includes fighting for the equality and rights of immigrants, refugees and Muslims. She has spoken at the United Nations and has worked with UN agencies to advocate for other refugees. As a model, she has been featured in CR fashion book and looks forward to paving the way for others like her that don’t fit the “typical” model requirements.
